What and Where is Jamaica?

The third biggest island of the Greater Antilles and fourth biggest island country of the Caribbean region is Jamaica, located at about 18°N, 77.5°W. It is 10,990 sq km (4,240 sq mi) in area and located about 145 km (90 mi) south of Cuba and 191 km (119 mi) west of Hispaniola. It was formed when an ancient volcano rose from the sea. In some places it is covered by a thick layer of limestone.
